Works to enable the completion of the A57 extension and improvement works will re-commence from Monday, 20 March 2017 along the A57 Liverpool Road. The works are to be completed over two phases over an eight week period.
The first phase of works start on 20th March for four weeks and will involve off peak lane closures (between 9.30am - 3.30pm) in both directions between Stadium Way and Barton Aerodrome.
The second phase of works involves the realignment of a footpath. In order to complete these works safely, three - way temporary lights with pedestrian crossing facilities will be in place on the A57 Liverpool Road at the junction Stadium Way. These traffic lights will be operational from 24th April 2017 for four weeks on a 24 hour basis.
Works to complete the connection of the new extended A57 with the existing road will take place later this year.
Work on the site of the new lifting bridge is progressing well. Current activity includes work being carried out at the North East tower, where a section has been cut away. This will then be rebuilt, along with repair work to the other three towers. Construction of the new bridge deck will follow.
Further updates will be posted once timescales are known.
