The A57 road improvement scheme and new dual carriageway link bridge is a £50 million project to join Salford with Trafford and beyond. The works undertaken by Peel Land and Property connect the A57 from the AJ Bell Stadium junction at Peel Green, then across the Manchester Ship Canal to link to Trafford Boulevard and the M60 via Trafford City – home to intu Trafford Centre and a host of other retail and leisure attractions.

This project has been made possible through an investment of £31 million by Peel Land and Property, £15 million from the Government’s Regional Growth Fund and £4 million from Salford City Council.

Port Salford Greenway

As well as improvements to the A57, cyclists and pedestrians are set to benefit from an enhanced 1.5km pathway running from Barton and Winton towards Worsley. Peel Land and Property via the Community Environment Fund, Salford City Council and TfGM funded the £1 million project.

Phase one of the Port Salford Greenway has already been completed including new and repaired footbridges, upgraded lighting, refurbished motorway subways including new lighting and community artwork and felled trees have been turned into benches.

Phase two of the project which will extend the route by a further 1.5 km between Port Salford and the Bridgewater Canal in Worsley is now well underway.

The route will improve accessibility to a number of green spaces and leisure uses including Cleavley allotments and football pitches, Winton Bowling, Tennis and Social Club, Alder Forest and AFC Monton.
